Our Principles

Govfest is guided by values that reflect our deep commitment to community, inclusion, and ethical practice. As a volunteer-powered initiative rooted in public service, we believe that how we work is just as meaningful as what we deliver.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

We are committed to fostering an inclusive and respectful environment for all participants, volunteers, and audiences. Govfest celebrates the diversity of our community and strives to ensure that everyone—regardless of background, identity, or ability—feels welcome and represented.

Land Acknowledgement

We acknowledge that our events take place on the traditional territories of many Indigenous Nations. In Toronto, we recognize that we are on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishinaabe, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat peoples. We are grateful for the opportunity to gather, perform, and build community on these lands, and we are committed to learning and contributing to reconciliation.

Volunteerism & Integrity

Govfest is powered entirely by volunteers. We value collaboration, transparency, and mutual respect in all that we do—whether planning an event, raising funds, or representing our community.
