We had two great shows at Monarch Tavern last weekend, and two more coming up at Lee’s Palace Dance Cave (529 Bloor W) tonight and Saturday night! You can see who is playing here.
A refresher on how it all works: our Grande Finale at Mod Club on December 12 will have six bands
- The top 3 “Audience Choice” bands (in person voting over all the shows)
- The top 3 “People’s Choice” bands (top fundraisers, through the individual band pages at fundraising partner Canada Helps)
Audience Choice: each ticket buyer gets 6 tickets, that they can use to vote for their favourite band, or split them up to vote for more than one. All the bands playing that night will have a voting bucket at the front door. If a ticket buyer goes to more than one show they can use their tickets to vote for bands across different nights, or even vote for a band that played on a previous night! (there won’t be a bucket out for a band from a previous night but talk to the front door Govfest volunteers and they will be sure your vote counts). So a good way to win is to encourage everyone you know to come out and see you play! You can see the current ranking at this link here which is also at our website under the “Music Events” heading, and these are updated as soon as possible after each show’s votes are counted. The 3 Audience Choice winners will be announced at the conclusion of the last show, on Saturday November 29 at the Duke Pub.
People’s Choice: Each band has a fundraising page at Canada Helps, and you can support your favourite band there. All donors will receive a CRA charitable tax receipt from Canada Helps. There are QR codes at each show that you can scan to take you straight to each band’s page, or you can see the links to each band’s fundraising site here on our website, or you can go to our Canada Helps page here (accessible under “People’s Choice Rankings” on our website) to see the current ranking. If you don’t want to use Canada Helps you can make a cash donation via Stripe directly at the show and we’ll be sure that is tallied up for your favourite band! (A generous gentleman at the Monarch show did just that on Saturday!) The People’s Choice bands will be the top 3 fundraising bands as of Monday, December 1 at 9pm precisely.
